Rabbi Chaim Richman
Jerusalem Lights Parashat Ki Tavo 5781
In week’s Torah portion of Ki Tavo, the Children of Israel are commanded to set up huge monumental stones on the very first day that they cross the Jordan River and enter into the Land, and as part of the sealing of their covenant with G-d, they are to write upon these stones ‘all the words of the Torah’….in the seventy spoken languages of the world. What was the urgency in setting up these stones immediately upon entering the land? And what is the message that the words of Torah, transcribed in every language, broadcast from the Land of Israel to all the world?
The Torah portion of Ki Tavo (Deuteronomy 26 : 1 - 29 : 8) is read on Shabbat, Elul 20, 5781 - August 28, 2021
