Rabbi Chaim Sunitsky
According to the Vilna Gaon (Aderet Eliyahu, Parshat Emor) the Regalim: Pesach, Shavuot, Sukkot and Shemini Atzret correspond to the 4 letters of the Divine Name in the opposite order: Hei - Vav - Hei - Yod.
Rosh Hashnah and Yom Kipur constitute a separate group of holidays mentioned only here and in Parshat Pinchas.
Our sages (Megillah 31a-b) instituted the reading of our Parsha on the second day of Passover because the barley sacrifice "Omer" mentioned in our passage was offered then. Also we read this passage on the first two days of Sukkot.
