Rabbi Etan Tokayer
NOTE: In the year 1242, the the infamous burning of the Talmud in Paris occurred on Friday before Parshas Chukas. The rabbis of the day saw this tragedy as a Divine retribution for the burning of the books of the Rambam several years earlier which resulted from actions taken by Jewish critics of the Rambam's work. Consequently, this Friday Erev Parshas Chukas serves a tragic memorial to the Rambam book burning.
