Rabbi Chaim Richman
In this week’s Torah portion of Parashat Lecha Lecha, enter Avraham Avinu -- the patriarch Abraham, founder of the nation of Israel and first of the true believers in the One G-d. Who was this remarkable man and who taught him about G-d? From where did he draw the strength to face off against the powerful, wicked Nimrod, who sought to kill him for his beliefs? In the woke world of illusion and lies in which he lived, original thinking was punishable by death. What inspired Avraham to stand up against the entire world and declare that there really is a G-d who created the world, who continues to create, and who cares deeply about His creation? The times in which we live in today bear a striking resemblance to the days of Avraham, who bequeathed his lifelong mission to every true spiritual seeker who follows in his footsteps today: Make G-d Cool Again.
The Torah portion of Lech Lecha (Genesis 12 : 1 - 17 : 27) is read on Shabbat, MarCheshvan 16, 5782 - October 10, 2021
