The Midrash tells us that the Ancient Greek exile is referred to as Darkness. Imagine a beautifully furnished castle - now imagine as you are walking through enjoying the fine details and someone turns off the lights! Oh oh, All that furniture becomes an obstacle! Darkness takes that which could be beautiful, and turns it into an obstacle. But weren’t they so intelligent? Weren't the Ancient-Greeks the harbingers of science, philosophy and maths? The problem was that they loved wisdom so much, they saw it as an end in itself. They focused on the 'what' and not the 'why'. - Rabbi Genish shares a Chanukah message in 70 seconds.
